Reece Heritage Farm Updated:07/2023

The Reece Heritage Farm is open April through November. The property is open daily, and the Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 to 4. Visitors to this southern Appalachian farm will find a welcome center with a gift shop and museum. Features include a Poetry Trail Garden that highlights Reece poems representing the four seasons along with Mulberry Hall, the poet's writing studio. There are also five barn buildings housing 13 exhibits, which include home artifacts, farm artifacts and implements. Explore the enterprises that portray life in Appalachia during the first half of the 20th century as well as the Reece Gallery and Theater, which displays photographs, books, copies of Reece's writings, and other Reece material. Docent-led tours are available by reservation to large groups, for a fee.Various events are held throughout the year.A beautifully constructed pavilion is available for family reunions, weddings, and other events, for a fee.

The farm is the home of acclaimed Appalachian Poet/Novelist Byron Herbert Reece and is a place to learn about the man and rural life in Appalachia in the mid-20th century. Exhibits, film, walking trail, poetry garden, gift shop and outdoor event facility.
