Chief Vann House State Historic SiteChief James Vann, the wealthiest Cherokee person in the nation, built his “Showplace of the Cherokee Nation” in 1804, and his home still stands as the best-preserved surviving Cherokee plantation home. The mansion is decorated with beautiful hand-carved moldings, brightly painted rooms and features its original “floating” staircase.
